In the coming months, we will be dealing with our obligations as a data controller (regarding our clients) and as a data processor (regarding the use of personal data in the newsletters we send out on behalf of firms across the UK).
The scale of the changes being imposed are challenging to say the least, and the penalties for non-compliance formidable: up to 4% of worldwide turnover.
At Informanagement, we have started to engage with the change process required to meet the new obligations and is consolidated this learning process by adding tutorials on the GDPR to our online training service, InforLearning. This service is available as part of the content we offer to professional firms across the UK on a subscription basis.
Even the Information Commissioners Office is uncertain of the exact processes that need to be undertaken on certain specific issues. Accordingly, integration and development of compliance systems to deal with the GDPR demands will likely develop over time and we will aim to keep firms abreast of these changes as well as updating our own internal policies and procedures.
We realise that Informanagement clients will be concerned by any change to the way in which mailing lists for marketing purposes are built and maintained under the GDPR. We would hope to be able to make definitive comments on these issues in the coming months.
The deadline for applying the GDPR is 25 May 2018. Watch this space.
At Informanagement we provide an inclusive tax update process for practitioners. If you would like to see how our online services could help you and your staff keep ahead of changing circumstances, and communicate these to your clients and prospects, call us at any time for a demonstration.
