I find it interesting to reflect on the reason that I added my profile to LinkedIn. My recollections are that some twelve years ago I was interested in finding ways to connect with people I already knew on the platform.
Subsequently, this grew into a wider appreciation of the networking benefits made available by LinkedIn, and so I started to seek connections with individuals with whom I’d had no previous contact.
Am I disappointed?
Not really. As a tool to expand my list of contacts, and up my personal profile (brand) in the process, it has been productive. I have started an online group on LinkedIn – The Accountants Network – and this is helping me to further my business aims, which are largely centred around providing accountancy firms with workable communication tools: primarily, access to relevant and up-to-date content for websites and client communications.
Networking was my initial aim, and I can see that building on my personal brand development is a recent spin-off that has been useful. Ultimately, I would hope that my increased “visibility” will create more business opportunities.
Like everything else, the whole process is a numbers game: the more connections I make the more opportunities this will create. I am in for the long game.
If you are an accountant, and would like to see how our online services could help you and your staff keep ahead of changing circumstances, call me any time to find out more. Otherwise – lets keep in touch on LinkedIn!
Feel free to join my group – The Accountants Network – everyone is welcome
