How often do your staff have access to information that updates their current tax knowledge? Is it at an annual two-day training jolly; a bi-monthly half day lecture; or an occasional dip into web-based tutorials?
Is the maxim, a little and often, of more value than its counterpart?
My company believes the former to be true, which is why we distribute weekly updates on across the board changes and updates to tax legislation and practice. In the last thirty years the UK tax code has almost doubled in length. In our opinion it is no longer feasible to cram the detail now involved in monitoring this change process into infrequent training updates.
There may also be value in organising weekly staff meetings to discuss recent changes and make the agenda more real by discussing how current changes will affect specific clients. From these discussions it should be possible to pin-point clients affected and start the process of targeting them for remedial advice.
We will continue to support this process. If you would like me to show you how my company, and our service InforLearning, can help you keep your staff informed and use this process to improve the advice given to clients then let me know. We would be more than happy to come and see you and give you a demo.
