This is the time of the year when industry used to shut down for the obligatory summer holiday break. Workers were obliged to take the same time off as factories were re-set to tick over mode.
Not so now. Now the summer is a lottery, most businesses stay open, but you may not be able to deal with your normal contact, or get bills paid because that person is on holiday for two weeks, or “I’ll leave a message and they’ll get back to you in ten days.”.
The process is disruptive but necessary!
Have you ever thought that clients, those with business interests, would be glad of your assistance during their time out on the beach?
Assuming that you have clients who normally take care of their own payroll, credit control and other key admin tasks, might they be interested in outsourcing these chores whilst they are away?
Do you offer such a service? Holiday stand-by…
Also, what about clients with business year ends that fall end of June or July? Perhaps there is scope for a conversation about a change of accounting date?
The area wide “holiday fortnight” that used to close down most of a town’s industrial activity each year is now a thing of the past. Unfortunately, this means that the disruption is now spread across a wider window. Offering a holiday stand-by service will not only provide you with an opportunity to lower client’s anxiety levels whilst they are away from home, it will also give you an opportunity to take a closer look at the effectiveness of their systems and advise accordingly.
You can make money while your clients are on the beach.
